the best photography work shop. ever.
Cabo San Lucas
Puerto Vallarta

Sunshine warm on your checks. The ocean breeze toying with your hair. More food then you could ever imagine. And laughing it up in a hot tub on a boat. What’s not to love? Oh, right – nothing. The Photog Retreat was this awesome mix of sunshine and ocean with some seriously amazing people and wonderful learning. And even talking about all this sunshine with snow in the forecast for tomorrow, I still think the best part was the awesome people. I’m telling you, photographers are fun folks to hang out with. Not only do I think I came away with 30 new friends, I also came away with some renewed adventure, passion and goals for my business. So, here’s a huge thanks to those who helped: the amazing speakers and the fellow photogs who chatted about our dreams while packed into a top-deck hot tub.

Oh, what’s that? Enough of the mushy thank you’s… you just want to see some of that sunshine? Well, ok then.

Let me take you on a tour of sunshine & fun:

Our first few days were spent on board learning best business practices, taking “the perfect headshot,” and learning how to walk straight on a rocking boat. That last one was the hardest to learn for sure. But my favorite was just getting to know these amazing photographers. (below are just a few: Paola, of Spotted Photography,The YoungrensStacey KylerJennifer SosaTodd James & Tessa of Light, Love, Laughter Photography.) It was such a refreshing time to re-focus and be renewed.

Then, it was time to have some fun… and we’re off to explore Cabo San Lucas.

On our way to Lover’s Beach.

TASTY coconut shrimp with mango sauce & margaritas.

Paola and I did decide that we need to return to this adorably romantic inn with our husbands… doesn’t this just ooze love? I’m thinking lounging around the courtyard with some tasty Mexican cuisine & my love by my side sounds fabulous… someday an anniversary trip for sure.

This was such a fun city to explore.

Next stop, Puerto Vallarta. Complete with adventures in a white suburban, the tequila factory, the set of “the predator” (complete with awesome rope swing into this sweet river pool), and delicious street tacos.

These tacos really were the best food of the whole trip. Erin Youngren even learned how to make the tortillas herself.

Then we finished up the trip with more workshops, including a sweet mock engagement session with The Youngrens and an adorable couple from the ship. (You guys rocked it!)

So I, officially, am in love with hanging out with awesome photographers, came home feeling so refreshed, and loved the Mexican sun. I think my favorite stop was Cabo. So much awesomeness to explore. What’s your favorite spot in Mexico? Or perhaps an all time favorite place to be refreshed?
